Why Coconut Oil Should Be One of Your Skin Care Staples

Why Coconut Oil Should Be One of Your Skin Care Staples

Coconut oil is known for many health benefits in cooking. Its benefits to our body are undeniable as we enjoy that delicious coconut flavor. But your skin can benefit just as much from coconut oil too! Here are just some of the ways coconut can help keep you skin looking young and healthy.

Skin Moisturizer Heart Shaped on Skin

Skin Moisturizer

If you’re looking for something to seriously hydrate your skin, look no further than coconut oil. Coconut oil retains moisture better than most anything you can find in the store. It doesn’t feel greasy or sticky on your skin. It melts as soon as you apply it, seeping into the skin pores, leaving your face moisturized and bright.

To moisturize, apply a small amount to your face after washing. Dry your face lightly with a towel. Then, take ¼ teaspoon oil in the palm of your hands and rub together. Apply to your face, gently massaging. Wait 5 to 10 minutes for it to absorb, and then wipe away the excess with soft cotton towel. If you have oily skin, apply liberally to your face and neck after washing with mild soap. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash your face with warm water and dry with a soft towel. While acne may flare up initially, don’t worry, in most cases, your skin will become conditioned and you’ll be able to enjoy all the benefits of coconut oil as a moisturizer!

Natural Makeup Remover

Yes, you read that right. Coconut oil is a natural makeup remover. It even works on waterproof mascara! And, since it’s a natural ingredient, it is gentle on the delicate sink under your eyes.

Put some coconut oil on a cotton ball and apply all over your face. Leave it on for 5 minutes and wash off with warm water and mild soap. It may take another round to get makeup off completely, depending on how heavy your makeup is, but overall, you will be impressed with its effectiveness. When you take the makeup off your eyes, keep your eyes closed tightly and place cotton balls over your eyes for a minute. The oil will dissolve waterproof mascara and eyeliner, which you’ll then be able to gently wipe off. And, as a bonus, it will leave the delicate eye area hydrated!

Here is Elizabeth Ruedas on how she uses Coconut Oil to remove make up.

Deep Cleanser

One of the beauties of coconut oil is its many healing properties. It is antibacterial, anti-fungal, and moisture-restoring. It is both a gentle and thorough cleanser. To create a deep cleanser, mix 2 tablespoons almond flour with equal parts coconut and milk to make a thick paste. Apply on the face, gently massaging in a circular motion. While the cleanser is on your face, dip a towel in warm water and place it on your face for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash the coconut cleanser off with warm water to clean out your pores, then with cold water to close them. Allow face to air dry. Then apply coconut oil to lock in moisture.

If you have oily skin, you’ll want to create a different cleanser. Make a paste of rice flour or oatmeal and coconut oil, adding a teaspoon of lemon juice or a few drops of lemon oil. Put it on your face, and then use a warmed wet towel to cover your face for 15 to 20 minutes. This will open your pores and help get rid of accumulated dirt debris softened by oil. Wash with mild soap and water.

yoga poses for better breasts
Yoga Poses for Better Breasts

Underneath all breast tissue is a muscle.  Just like hamstrings or biceps, chest muscles need to be worked and exercised in order to hold their firmness and shape.  Unfortunately, weak chest muscles and outside influences like gravity and breastfeeding, along with significant weight gain or weight loss, can cause breasts to lose shape and sag. Strengthening your chest muscles by working them daily can lead to perkier, firmer, and even larger breasts.
